These Dreams…Tire Me

Happy Monday everyone! In case you missed it, I decided to take a few weeks off from blogging and podcasting to regroup and regain some energy since I have been hard at work most of this year pursuing my dream of launching The Financial Gym. In anticipation of a crazy fall, I thought I would spend the last two weeks refueling my system; however, rest was apparently not in the cards for me.At the beginning of my vacation, I recorded a So Money podcast with Farnoosh Torabi that was supposed to air at the end of the month. Farnoosh was so excited about the podcast, though, that she aired it just a few days after we recorded it. I was happy to know that we recorded something inspiring; however, it was so inspiring that it turned my vacation into a very busy few weeks of work.As a result of the podcast, I picked up new clients, spoke to a number of new contacts, grew my own podcast and ended up with the single busiest week of my career last week. So much for a vacation; however, when you are pursuing your dreams, rest is not always an option, and you have to take advantage of new opportunities no matter when they arise.

These Dreams…Inspire Me and Others

Even though I really would have liked to rest over the last two weeks, I have to be honest and say that I’m thrilled that The Financial Gym has inspired so many new people. Three years ago I had the dream of creating a new kind of financial planning practice, and my dream has inspired my work and efforts ever since. As I have shared in the past, not everyone believed in my dreams as much as I did; however, they were strong enough to keep me going even when I didn’t think they could become a reality. The feedback that I received after appearing on Farnoosh’s show was truly overwhelming for me to accept. It’s one thing for your dream to inspire your own path, but it’s truly unbelievable when you watch your dream inspire other people.

These Dreams….Motivate Me and Others

For the past three years, my dreams have motivated me to live a better life and help other’s live a better life; and when I’m drained and exhausted, my dreams act as the fuel in my engine to keep me going. Over the last two weeks, though, I met a number of new clients who struggle with defining and realizing their dreams. The common factor with all of them is an elevated level of consumer debt. With every dollar of debt that they accumulated, each dream they had began to fade to the point where they didn’t even have them anymore.I know that debt is a burden and eats away at your psyche as long as you have it, but I hope that you never let debt destroy your dreams. The only thing that debt does is delay your dreams, it can never destroy them unless you let it. Without dreams and the hope of something better, it’s almost impossible to conquer your debt burden and it’s easy to get into more debt trouble because you lack focus. Your dreams and goals provide you with a direction and without them, you will get lost.My clients who have the most clear dreams and goals truly have the most success when it comes to overcoming their money challenges. So even if you have debt, don’t let that stop you from believing in the power of your dreams and setting big goals for yourself other than debt repayment. You need those dreams and goals to motivate you on your journey and I guarantee you that when you keep them focused in your life, you will achieve them sooner than later.

What are your dreams? Is debt keeping you from focusing on your dreams? Have any of your big dreams come true yet?
