Think and Grow Rich Happy Hour Style
Today is the last Friday of the month and in case you are new to this blog or my podcast, on the last Friday of the month, I host a happy hour on my podcast where the happy hour ladies and I talk about various money topics while drinking cheap drinks! As you may have read in a previous blog post, I am currently obsessed with the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. This book was referred to me by my business partner and I feel a little late to the game, since it was written in 1937, but better late than never! The interesting fact, though, is that despite the fact that I am late to reading this book, I have actually been practicing many of it's lessons without knowing it; and as you will hear in this podcast, so have my friends. Setting goals and intentions is critical to financial success, and if you haven't done it yet, I hope this podcast will inspire you.
What are we drinking?
Melanie from Dear Debt — gin & tonic
Tonya from Budget and the Beach — glass of water with lemon
Mrs. Frugalwoods from Frugalwoods.com — Belgian Witbier
Shannon — Cavit Pinot Grigio
Podcast Notes
Think and Grow Rich was inspired by Napoleon’s interview with Andrew Carnegie.
The ladies agree that the book is more about growing financially successful instead of becoming rich.
TAGR advises the reader to plan for the amount of money they want to have.
Melanie says if you put your thoughts first and your actions second, you can achieve the financial success that you want.
And Mrs. Frugalwoods’ goal of buying their homestead is a perfect example for the Think and Grow Rich philosophy.
Shannon advises her clients to set big goals because instead of just mediocre ones.
Shannon truly believes the power of desire is what helps you achieve your goals.
It is one thing to set a goal, but because setbacks are likely, your perseverance is what will help you to achieve the goal.
After reading the book three weeks ago, Shannon has noticed the benefits of continuing to work towards her goals.
Tonya mentions Jim Carrey used the power of attraction to manifest $10 million.
Melanie says her mom told her the story about Jim Carrey when she was trying to pay off her debts, and she wrote a check for $50,000 to herself.
In order to achieve your big goals, you have to take big risks.
You can’t just think positive thoughts and expect to be a millionaire, you have to make it happen.
Shannon says being sensible is like drinking water at happy hour! Aspire to greater things!
Shannon asks the ladies what their intentions are:
Tonya’s intention is to have $2 million to retire early.
Since buying their homestead, the Frugalwoods’ new intention is to set new goals to work towards and learn how to live and enjoy their new life.
Shannon’s intention is to sell The Financial Gym to a company with the resources to expand the business.
Melanie’s big goal is to have $3 million in 3 years.
Shannon gives Mrs. Frugalwoods the goal of creating a rhubarb martini.
Push yourself to set and work towards crazy, outrageous goals! Even if you’re not sure you’ll achieve them, the shift in your mindset and focus will bring successes you never anticipated.
