Music Mondays - Unwritten
I am Unwritten
I love this song by Natasha Bedingfield for so many reasons:
I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten*
Two-Year Blogiversary!!
This week marks the two-year blogiversary of Financially Blonde; and when I first sat down to write the ideas that I kept to myself for years, the story of my blog was unwritten and it’s future is still unwritten, but I love where it has brought me today. When I first started my blog, like most bloggers, I had about 4 readers, myself included; however, I started to engage in this amazing community of personal finance bloggers and within a few months, I not only had readers on my blog, but I also found new friends. My blogging friends inspire me to write better, think harder and give back to this community that I love. While attending FinCon this time last year, it was my blogging friends who pushed me to start a podcast and promised that they would support it. One year later, my podcast is not only a finalist for the Plutus Award for Best Personal Finance Podcast, but it has led to new clients for my business and new opportunities for me personally.Financially Blonde has also given me the platform to not only launch my business The Financial Gym, but also release my book, Train Your Way to Financial Fitness. A year ago, when I met with my publishers for the book, they recommended that I stop my blog because they thought I had too many brands and needed to focus. They were trying to speak the words from my lips instead of me, and I told them that I had no intention of giving up Financially Blonde.
Thank you for two wonderful years!!!
This blog holds such a special place in my heart for so many reasons, and everyday that I work on it feels like a gift. I not only have a place where I can express myself, but I can share in a community as well. I tell people that my blog is like my kitchen table, when you come here, you get the casual side of me and I welcome you into my home and want you to feel comfortable. To everyone who has and continues to stop by the blog, I thank you for your time, your insights, your encouragement and your community. I had no idea where this experience would lead me two years ago, but all I can say is that I’m so thankful that I took the leap and started to write.
FinCon Update
For those of you attending FinCon, I look forward to meeting you in person. For my readers who don’t know what FinCon is, FinCon is the financial blogger’s conference that takes place once a year. When I first started my blog, the FinCon conference was mentioned on a few blogs, and I remember thinking that I was going to attend the next year because it seemed like the “thing to do.”So last year, I attended my first FinCon Conference, and I immediately realized what everyone was talking about. I not only got to meet many of my blogging friends in real life, but I networked like crazy and built connections that have dramatically changed the course of my businesses, my blog, my podcast and my life.I have a full conference coming up as I am hosting an unofficial after party, attending a number of sponsored events, presenting, and recording my podcast live on the podcasting stage. For anyone who wants to see the podcast recorded live, we are recording the happy hour episode, so I will be on stage with Melanie, Tonya and Mrs. Frugalwoods. We have a fun topic planned and martinis will be served to those in the audience. It will definitely be an epic happy hour episode for sure.
How long have you been blogging? Are you attending FinCon? What’s your favorite part about FinCon if you’ve been before?
