FB Foodie Friday - Supersized

As you may have guessed, I have had the Super Bowl on the brain this week. Probably because I live in NY and everywhere you turn there is Super Bowl news. So in honor of the Super Bowl, I am not only giving you a dinner for under $15, but I am also throwing in two appetizers. So you can host a Super Bowl party for 6-8 people for under $60 all-in. And if you go shopping this weekend for all of the items, you will find that many are on sale because of the Super Bowl. How awesome is that?Chili Mac and CheeseMy husband is not the biggest chili fan, so I can't make chili like everyone else. Instead, I make chili with pasta and cheese thrown in. This dish is not only tasty, but it is super easy to make and feeds a bunch of people. Here is a breakdown of the costs:

We tried baking, we tried broiling, we tried deep frying, and I never liked the consistency of the wings. During another attempt at wings, we accidentally over cooked the chicken according to the recipe, and it turned out perfect. So now our method of cooking chicken wings is basically overcooking from what other people prefer. Here is a breakdown of the costs:

  • Chicken = $7.80
  • Hot Sauce = $2.50
  • Butter = $2.39
  • Celery = $2.49
  • Carrots = $1.99
  • Dressing = $1.59
  • Total = $18.76

If you are trying to save money, you could absolutely cut out the parmesan cheese and not lose any of the flavor. I love this recipe because it truly does taste like a jalapeño popper, but with a lot less effort to make. Here is the breakdown of costs:

  • Shredded Cheddar Jack Cheese = $3.00
  • Shredded Parmesan Cheese = $3.29
  • Green Chiles - $1.00
  • Jalapeños - $1.00
  • Tortilla Chips = $2.59
  • Mayo = $2.99
  • Total = $18.25
