Top Ten Cheap Workouts

Since launching my book, Train Your Way to Financial Fitness last week, I seem to have fitness and exercise on the brain. On Monday, I talked about setting a goal of spending time with your money just as you would set a work out goal. On Wednesday, I shared my story inspired from the interloper in my gym class. So today, I thought I would share with you my top 10 workouts that I do that are free or cheap.

1) Walk or Run

I live near an amazing State Park, and especially when the weather is nice, I try to take full advantage of it and go for a long aggressive walk or sometimes if I am feeling really motivated I will run for part of it.cheap workouts

2) Couch to 5k

Couch to 5k is a free app that literally trains you on how to run a 5k assuming you have never run in your life. I personally used this app and loved it. I don't love running, but I really enjoyed how easy the workouts were.

3) Daily Workouts App

Another free app that's available to you. In this one, you can customize your workouts depending on what you would like to accomplish (i.e. butt workout or abs) and how much time you have to workout. It will pull together your work out and it includes videos as well.

4) Map My (Ride, Walk) App

There are a number of these free apps, and I have used Map My Walk and Map My Ride. They mostly track the activity that you are doing; however, it's always motivating to see how much you can accomplish in a week.

5) Workout videos on Amazon Prime

If you are an Amazon Prime Member, there are a number of work out videos available at no additional charge to you. FB Hubby and I have done a few Jillian Michaels videos, we have done yoga and we recently did a Bollywood dance workout. I could barely finish that one because I was laughing my butt off at Hubby's technique.

6) Classes on Groupon

There are always deals available through Groupon for various classes in nearby locations like Pilates, Zumba or Yoga. Some of them can get expensive, but I have seen great deals for $11 a class. If you want to change things up, this might be a good fit for you.

7) 30 Day Squat and Ab Challenge

I found this workout routine on Pinterest pinned by Tribe Sports. I have actually found a number of great workouts like this on Pinterest; and you can follow my board, Frugal Fitness, if you want to find any more.Top Ten Cheap Workouts

8) Stairs in Your Home

Walking up and down your steps may seem a little boring, but it's a great workout. Not to mention you can use your stairs to do dips to work your triceps or lunges or calf exercises. If you don't have stairs, you can try doing some workouts with a sturdy chair.

9) No Excuse Gymless Workout

This is another great Pinterest find thanks to the Girls Guide To I have done this one a bunch when I travel, especially if I am in a hotel gym with no one else around.Top Ten Cheap Workouts

10) 20 Minute Apartment Workout

FitSugar posted a great article with a bunch of workouts you could not only do within 20 minutes, but that you could do with minimal space which is perfect for my friends in NYC living in tight quarters.Image Source: FreeDigitalPhotos.net Stuart Miles
