What is the Versatile Blogger Award?
I can't say that I know exactly what the Versatile Blogger Award it; however, I do know that I have been nominated by Mel at Broke Girl Rich. I know that I have to share 7 interesting and unique facts about me and I have to nominate 7 other bloggers for this lovely award. It kind of reminds me of the Liebster, or just another one of those blogger chain letters. I am all about an excuse to share random facts about me, so here it goes.
1) I am a really warm sleeper
My hubby has nicknamed me "the heater" because I exude crazy amounts of heat when I sleep. My brother is the same way, so is my son and so is my niece. If it is not really cold in our rooms at night, we have a tough time sleeping. In the winter time, if it's cold in our room, hubby literally grabs me in the middle of the night like a heating blanket.
2) I got a 24 (out of 100) on a Calculus exam in college
I shared a while back that my worst fail in life was the C I got in Calculus in college. Whelp, part of why I ended up with a C was my first exam score of a 24. After I received the test (the scariest thing I have ever seen in my life), I went back to my dorm room, cried for 3 hours straight and contemplated dropping out of school entirely. Glad I got over that quickly.
3) I found out hamsters are cannibalistic the hard way
We had two hamsters when I was little, Keith and Allie. I wanted to name them Kate and Allie after my favorite tv show at the time and my brother wanted to name them after Mets players, one of which was Keith Hernandez, so we compromised.When my brother and I went away to visit my dad we came back and my mom said that they died because we didn't feed them. I was devastated. I found out a few years later, that my mom walked in to find the dead carcass of one, she was so grossed out she got rid of the hamster that survived.
4) I used to wear glasses
I started wearing glasses when I was in second grade. I started wearing contacts in high school and then 7 years ago, I got lasik surgery and it is the best! Before lasik, I could not see my alarm clock next to my bed in the middle of the night.
5) I read 50 Shades of Grey before it was cool to read it
My other side confession along with this is that I like to read romance novels, sometimes the trashy kind, and I follow a few book blogger's suggestions. A few years ago, one of the suggestions was this book, 50 Shades of Grey. The first two books were just out and the third had not been released. I am not surprised that it took off. I tell people that it's the Pretty Woman of this generation.
6) I was named after the river Shannon in Ireland
My mom was in nursing school when she was pregnant with me and she overheard these two nurses claiming that the river Shannon had healing powers. My mom thought that was cool, and thus my name. I am REALLY glad that she overheard this conversation, otherwise, I would have been Azure.
7) My long time celebrity crush is Colin Firth
I fell hard for Mr. Firth after watching him play Mr. Darcy in the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, then it was only solidified when he played Mark Darcy in the Bridget Jones Diary. There is something about him, maybe it's the accent, but I adore him.
