Asking for Help

A friend of mine was working for a start up, and she said that their best solution to growing the business was to ask people for help. She said it was amazing how many people wanted to help them succeed, and she also pointed out the necessity of asking for help. After all, if you don’t ask, how else will people know that you need the help? So this post is about asking for help. Some people may think it’s a shameless plug and it’s a little bit like that, but mostly it is asking my wonderful readers and supporters to help me.

begFor those of you not in the personal finance blogging world, FinCon is an annual conference that is held to support personal finance bloggers and the financial services community. In a few weeks, I plan to attend this conference for the first time, and I am looking forward to it. I am excited about the opportunity to learn how to improve my blog, I am excited to hear what the experts have to say, but more importantly I am excited to meet many of my blogger friends that I have grown to love via the internet in person. At the end of the conference, there is something called the Plutus Awards which honor personal finance bloggers in a variety of categories. So, here is my first request for help, would you please click on any of the links below and nominate my blog for any or all of the categories listed. You only have to enter your name and email and you can hit submit since these are pre-populated links. You have until 11:59 pm Eastern on August 25th to nominate blogs and you can vote as often as you would like. The winners in each category will be determined by a panel of my blogging peers.

Shameless Plug

The next thing to share is more shameless plug than ask for help. As many of you know, I started writing about my life in the world of finance for AOL Jobs. I initially thought I would just be a contributor; however, they have revamped part of their site, and I am officially the Co-Host of the Finance Hub for AOL Jobs. Other than writing about relevant topics for people in finance careers, I will also get to answer questions and host chats about various topics. I am really excited about this, and if you want to check out any of my latest topics, here are a few:How Women Can Succeed In Finance - Support One Another (I share a story about a former female co-worker calling me "Buffy" in front of a client.)There is No Crying in the Office - I have done it but only from the bathroom stall.A Day in the Life of a Financial PlannerDo You Feel Like a LinkedIn Fraud? Image Source: FreeDigitalPhotos.Net Stuart MilesGif Source: Giphy

Okay, enough about me, how can I help you? Seriously, leave a comment and tell me how. I have voted for many bloggers directly from their sites or Twitter, but give me a link and I will do it again. I can’t know that you want help, unless you ask.
